Financing: Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Pokémon Detective cost $150 million to make, with its break-even point being around $300 million. The marketing cost alone was $100 million. However, there isn't much revealed about where the finances for the movie came from. But, keeping in check the large-scale cross-media holdings and subsidiaries of both Legendary and The Pokémon Company, the expenses are pretty much justified. The built-in audience of Pokémon itself, as a globally-known franchise, was already constituent of its success at the box office. The movie was able to quickly cover the costs in just one week of its release with a revenue generation of $166.7 million.

The distribution cost hasn't been revealed either. But the companies responsible for its distribution, Warner Bros. and Toho, had their own subsidiary holdings and owned several theatrical branches worldwide, so it's comprehensible how the distribution finances were covered.

While his Pokémon on DeviantArt is more realistic, the ones he designed for the film had to be a bit more traditional. RJ Palmer po...
